Analysts warn that the box office will plunge by more than 50% for 2020
The US box office will be slashed in half this year, according to new research.
Wall Street analysts MoffettNathanson has run the numbers, and has predicted that due to the shuttering of theatres across the country, revenue will fall from $11.4 billion last year to $5.5 billion for 2020.
The research also warns that if cinemas don't re-open effectively over the summer, following the coronavirus lockdown, the damage could be even more severe.

Vancouver Island film industry positioned for leading role in COVID-19 recovery
VICTORIA -- It will be lights, camera and action again for the film industry on Vancouver Island soon, potentially as early as next month.
The province says the industry can resume shooting by June, as part of phase three of the economic reopening.
Ric Nesh is the producer of a television series that was being shot in Victoria prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. His crew had filmed the first installment of a five-part series, “The Ruby Landry Saga,” before shooting was interrupted by the pandemic.

Multi-awarded film producer-director and socio-civic influencer Romm Burlat has won two major international awards for his two film entries, namely “Cuckoo” and “Agaw-pansin.”
