Philippines goes to the 72nd Berlinale

THE PHILIPPINES GOES TO THE 72ND BERLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL!

With a lineup composed of talented Filipino filmmakers and promising Filipino production companies, the Philippines continues to solidify its global presence with its participation in the 72nd edition of the prestigious Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival and European Film Market - EFM which will be held in Germany from February 10 to 20.

Maria Estela Paiso’s “It’s Raining Frogs Outside” (Ampangabagat Nin Talakba Ha Likol) is set to compete in the Berlinale Shorts Competition, which marks the very first participation of a regional film from Zambales in the festival's competition.

Martika Escobar's "Leonor Will Never Die," which recently won the Special Jury Prize in the World Cinema Dramatic Section of Sundance Film Festival, will be screened at the EFM Online Market Screening

In this year’s edition of Berlinale Talents, the talent development programme of the festival, the Philippines will be represented by director and producer Rafael Manuel and production designer and art director Connie Valera. Meanwhile, Berlinale Talents 2012 alumna and producer Bianca Balbuena will serve as mentor for the Short Form Station of Talents 2022.

The Philippines is also sending Filipino filmmakers John Paul Su, Wilfredo Manalang, Danzen Santos Katanyag, Paul Sta. Ana, and Kyle Nieva to the Berlinale Visitors Programme Online 2022.

Finally, the FDCP selected six (6) Filipino production companies to participate in the European Film Market - EFM where the representatives of each company will have the chance to network with filmmakers from other countries for co-production opportunities.
