Philippines Celebrates Return to Cannes

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MAY 18, 2022 — After two years of only virtual participation due to the pandemic, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the country's national film agency, will lead the Philippine Cinema’s return to one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, the Cannes Film Festival, and its industry counterpart, the Marché du Film in Cannes, France. The Philippine-Singapore Pavilion, in partnership with the Singapore Film Commission, also comes back to welcome delegates along Cannes’ Village International-Riviera from May 17 to 28, 2022.

FDCP Now Accepting Entries for LGBTQIA+ Film Festival

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, APRIL 29, 2022 — In celebration of the upcoming Pride Month this June, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will once again be spearheading the “Pelikulaya: LGBTIA+ Film Festival,” on June 10 to 26, 2022 which will be held in hybrid format. The Agency opened its call for entries for the local short film competition last April 13, 2022 and will be accepting entries until May 13, 2022.

Far East Film Festival to Welcome PH Delegation in Italy; Showcases 9 PH Films and a Manila Special Section

PH Bags 3 Awards at the 19th Asian Film Festival in Italy; Brillante Mendoza Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, APRIL 22, 2022 — Three out of three In Competition Filipino films won major awards at the 19th Asian Film Festival (AFF 19) which was held onsite in Rome, Italy last April 7 to 13, 2022. The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) brought a total of five Filipino films to the AFF 19, including films by Lifetime Achievement Awardee, Brillante Mendoza.

FDCP Awards P100K Film Grants to 10 Sine Kabataan Finalists

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, APRIL 12, 2022 — Ten (10) young filmmakers have been selected as finalists in the 5th edition of the Sine Kabataan Short Film Lab and Festival. Each finalist will receive a PHP 100,000 grant as funds to use in the production of their respective short films. 

Leonor Goes to Turkey: Filipino film to Compete in Turkish Film Festival

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, APRIL 12, 2022 — After its big win at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Martika Ramirez Escobar’s Leonor Will Never Die will once again compete at the 41st Istanbul International Film Festival being held in Istanbul, Turkey, which started last April 8 and will conclude on April 19, 2022.
